Baltic Beer Tour
An Outing on the Baltic Sea

Wow, what a fantastic experience! I posted this event in conjunction with my visit to the Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen, expecting the entire Baltic tour to be downhill from there. Boy was I surprised to find such amazing beers throughout the Nordic countries.

The first highlight of the trip came with the Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel from Klosterbrauerei Andechs out of Munich, Germany. I found this brew at a delightful beer garden in downtown Berlin (not exactly Nordic, but I got there from the Baltic Sea, so I'm counting it this time). Being a big fan of the bock beer style, it was a natural gravitation. It was my first beer out of the gate, which turned out to be a world-class wonder!

Second highlight was the Huvila Arctic Circle Ale, a spiced brown ale from the Malmgard Brewery in Finland. Aside from traditional sahti beer, I had no idea what to expect from Finnish brews. The country completely surprised me with their delicious selection craft brews. I even took a picture of the bar's beer shelf just in case I could wrangle some up state-side.
