What some novice beer drinkers don't know is that each year the recipe for their favorite beer might change a tad year to year. This happens to be the case for the Brew Dog Punk IPA. Originally brewed at 6% abv, in 2009 they decided to change up the recipe and bring it down to 5.4% abv. What we have here is the original 6% version. When I first popped the cap my nose caught the brief smell of citrus. It has a very pleasant, fruity aroma. When poured into a glass you will notice that it has a light golden color and somewhat thick head. The first taste was very sweet and in true Brew Dog fashion, you immediately get smacked up side the head with a supreme dose of bitterness. It goes down easy but leaves a dry taste. Perhaps the dryness is Brew Dogs way of saying, ''drink some more''. IPA's have been my favorite style of beer for years. I prefer the bitterness and for me the more bitterness the better. If you have never tried an IPA, this is not for you. The bitterness may be to intense for most. Overall, this is an IPA I would keep a stash of in my fridge. If you do not like IPAs, move on.

I've heard great things about the boys over at Brewdog. I like their boldness and outside the box style. I think its about time I put some of their bitter goodness in a glass and see what all the fuss is about.

I've only had a few of the Brewdog beers and they have all been really intense (in a good way). I can't remember if I've had the Punk IPA, but considering their reputation and your review, it will soon be in my belly. Have you tried any of their insanely-high-gravity-taste-bud-melting selections yet?

I have a Sink the Bismark in Fridge. 41%. Waiting for a special occasion to tap that one. Also, the place that I got it has the Tactical Nuclear Penguin. 32% Let me know if you want me to pick them up for you.
I also have a 2 year old BrewDog Paradox Macallan. It is a imperial stout aged in a 1987 Macallan sherry cask. Review to come soon.

I don't know what I like seeing more. The fact that you have the mythical Sink the Bismark in your fridge, or that you said "review to come soon" on more beers!!!

I just had to battle an extreme bout of jealousy when you mentioned that sherry cask stout. Holy hell does that sound delicious, I anxiously await that review! I know my local specialty store carries the Brewdog line, but I don't know if they have any of the big dogs. I'll double check and let you know. Thanks for the offer to pick some up, might take you up on that.
