***rarely do I do something like this, but as an added bonus to this review I suggest you turn the volume on your computer up as loud as it will go, scroll down, press play on the video below, and then return to this point and start reading*** So let's cut straight to the chase. Today I get to review the Ten FIDY Imperial Stout from Oskar Blues Brewing Company. There is no need for fluff. There is no need for a long and lengthy introduction. This is the mountain top people. Trust me when I say that there is not a better standard issue beer on the market. Everything about it is nothing short of sheer brew awesomeness. As far as I am concerned, Ten FIDY is the king. Right off the bat, when you grab a silver and black can of this glorious nectar, you can almost feel the power that occupies its insides. If feelings of unworthiness start to rush over you, just relax. This happens from time to time. So stop being a pansy, grab yourself a snifter, and crack this monster open. When you start to pour it, be not afraid of it's jet black appearance, nor its thin but creamy tan head. This is normal in a high quality imperial stout. As you do, you get the chance to take in all of its deep and rich aromas that include burnt molasses, coffee, dark chocolate, and even some boozy bourbon. When you finally get up the nerve to take a sip, you might be surprised at how silky and smooth the mouthfeel is. You barely even notice any hops bite, as it seems to massage your tongue more than attack it. All of the flavors noted in the nose are present in the taste department as well, with some roasted, possibly even charred malts joining in on the fun about midway through the flavor train. The chocolate is highlighted by notes of caramel as it warms, and a slightly smoky flavor seems to rise from the bottom as the session progresses. If I had all day to go on singing the praises of Ten FIDY, it still wouldn't be long enough for me to say all of the great things I think about it. It is a must try for all seasoned stout lovers, as well as anyone with a more advanced palate that is wanting to taste Imperial stout perfection. And along those same lines, newbies and beginners should approach with extreme caution. I won't go as far as to say you aren't ready, but be warned, this one shows no mercy to the weak. As far as I'm concerned, the entire line of Oskar Blues Brewing products should be considered craft brew royalty. And as with any royal family, there can be only one king. Ten FIDY, we all bow down.

Every great beer needs a great soundtrack and I think you nailed Ten FIDY's. Listening to Motorhead shred while reading a review about the undisputed champion of Imperial Stouts makes me want to take a sledge hammer to the nearest gas station beer fridge. Ten FIDY is the beer that everyone should immediately picture when some schmuck utters the phrase "the king of beers". I bow to the one true king.

This is one of the few beers that intimidate the shit out of me. I've had a few in my beer drinking lifetime and each session has been a total ass beating. Can't deny the excellence, but it takes bravery.
Oh, there is something very....metal...about Ten FIDY. Maybe that is why I love it so much. It is both tough as nails and smooth as silk at the same time. Just...damn. What a beer.
